How to Make a Terrarium

It’s the ever so popular mini forest in a glass jar! Here’s our step-by-step guide to making your own terrarium:

What you’ll need:

1. Horticultural charcoal

2. Orchid bark

3. Potting soil

4. Decorative moss: sheet moss, Spanish moss

5. Two or three plants: try ferns and humidity-loving plants

6. Glass container: mason jar, wine glass, coffee cup

Instructions:

1. Gently fill the base of your container with the charcoal.

2. Next, add the orchid bark on top of the charcoal layer.

3. Add the potting soil on top of the orchid bark. You should now have a layered look in the base of your container.

4. Create a small divot with your finger for each of the plants you’ll be adding.

5. Add your plants.

6. Place the decorative moss around the plants, and wah-lah!
