We Are Wallitsch Gardens

Wallitsch Garden Center was started in 1946. Since its opening it has been owned by three generations of Wallitsch’s. Jeff Wallitsch was born and raised in his family’s nursery, started by his grandparents in Louisville. His background is in Horticulture and Elementary Education. A lover of the Louisville food scene, Jeff also enjoys cooking all of Ina Garten's recipes for his blended family and has developed a loving tolerance for his business partner, Nique. Jeff and Nique also are the owners of Petals, a local houseplant and floral shop in St. Matthews Louisville.

Nique Freese grew up in a family of gardeners, which oddly enough, she never enjoyed as a child. After getting a degree in accounting, she quickly discovered she preferred being outside surrounded by plants and color. Nique loves spending time with her husband, kids, grandkids, friends, her two pugs, and a rescue dog.

At Wallitsch Garden Center, you’ll find a huge selection of annual bedding plants, most grown right here in our own greenhouses. We take pride in searching the world for the newest introductions to help make your garden as unique as you are. Wallitsch Garden Center is a full-service garden and lifestyle center dedicated to the success of individual do-it-yourself gardeners, hobbyists, and professional landscapers.

General Manager
Ron Hirsch

Ron has been an avid lover of plants since a child. If you ask him what his favorite flower is, iris is always his answer. He has over 40 different varieties in his yard. Ron has partnered with Jeff and Nique on many different projects throughout 18 years. When Jeff and Nique wanted him to come back to Wallitsch's and be the general manager he was ecstatic. One of  Ron's favorite things at Wallitsch's is getting in a truck with new merchandise and plants! Besides plants one of his passions is nature photography with an emphasis in birds. His knowledge of birds is boundless and loves to answer any questions about different seeds, plants, and flowers to attract them to your yard.
