DIY Bug Catchers & Mother’s Day butterfly baskets from Idlewild Butterfly Farm




Making homemade bug catchers is a fun way to get the kiddos outside this summer! Blair Leano-Helvey from Idlewild Butterfly Farm will show you how!


What you’ll need:

  1. Canning jar, lid, and band

  2. Two straws

  3. Mesh

  4. Duct tape


Instructions:

  1. Place mesh over the end of one straw

  2. Use duct tape to hold the mesh in place

  3. Put both straws in the jar

  4. Place band on jar and stretch duct tape across top to hold straws down

  5. Put end of non-mesh covered straw over bug

  6. Use mesh-covered straw to suck and catch the bug!

Idlewild’s butterfly baskets are the perfect gift for mom this year! Choose from spring floral arrangements or potted butterfly garden plants in a wicker basket covered with mesh and embellished with live butterflies!

Butterfly baskets are still available in-store Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th.
